I'm a self-taught textile artist with a focus on hand embroidery. As a lifelong artist and crafter, I officially began sharing my art with the world in 2014, when The Beefy Chicken was established here on Etsy. My work has evolved over the years, but usually incorporates hand embroidery layered with fabric and acrylic paint. Most pieces begin as a drawing in my sketchbook before I visualize how it should come to life with a needle and thread, and most take many hours to fully complete. THE CHICKEN LORE:

Why so beefy? At one time, when I was younger and only slightly more silly, The Beefy Chicken was born out of my strange sense of humor. Bored in study hall, I was drawing beefy arms on random creatures and objects (as one does) and BOOM, The Beefy Chicken was born. I loved the contradiction. It soon became my mascot as I continued drawing it on any blank chalkboard or notebook cover I got my hands on. It seemed only natural that The Beefy Chicken should be the mascot of my creative endeavors, and it serves as a constant reminder to not take things so seriously.
